Hi Bill, thanks for the reply. It seams to be common that the Officers were silver and the OR's were brass. Like yourselves we have had a pewter badge but are now in the process to changing to a brass badge. We can't say this is 100% certain for the 95th but it was standard practice in the British A...

Shako Plate
Hi There. Is your shako plate copied from an original? If so what was the orginal made from? The reason I ask is that we are replacing our cap plate and I'm collecting as much info on Shako plates as I can.

Hi Pud, wow a long one to deal with {oh er misses}. 1. We have shoulder straps and black worsted tufts. The Bugler would of had shoulder straps with black wings with black and white fringe. 2. On the OR's jacket there is 3 rows of 12 buttons. 3/4. The Officers have 22 buttons in 3 rows. They would h...

Hi Diane, The RGJ museum does not even have a good copy of a Riflemans uniform let alone an original. The uniform they did have on display {they have now got rid of it} was given to them to them by a fancy dress hire company. It was shite, there were hooks and eyes to do the front of the jacket up i...

Hi Pud. I've always believed that your jackets were based on rather direct copies. Your jackets I would have thought would have been cut to a Light Infantry stlye. You have turnback where our tails slope away. I can't imagine you being sent second hand jackets. Uniforms were replaced once a year, I ...

Hi Bill, just read your item on 95th jackets. That's our holly grail to find an original uniform, as with any original 95th kit. There is very little in museums over here. When a soldier was discharged from the army he would take his old uniform with him, and wear it as work clothes. And as they wer...

Hi Guys, thanks for your replies. The reason we have changed our forage caps that the round {or prok pie, stable cap} were not issued until well into 1813 or 1814. So what were the regiments using? There apears to have been two types of caps used, the Stocking cap which were made from the tails of c...

Forage Caps
Hi there, I'm from the 2/95th in the UK. We have just changed over our forage caps from the round type to what is known as the Wedge type {Tea Cosys}. As the Glengarry's were issued with 95th undress kit, what is your views and thoughts? Here is a link to our webpage on our new kit. http://www.95th-...
