Hi There. Is your shako plate copied from an original? If so what was the orginal made from? The reason I ask is that we are replacing our cap plate and I'm collecting as much info on Shako plates as I can.

Hi Dave

We have copied our badges from a picture of an original in the collections of Parks Canada. The one they have appears to be an officer's, as it appears to be silver.

One of our guys made them from pewter.

Regards from the Republic. :salute: Back in Upper Canada soon.

Hi Bill, thanks for the reply. It seams to be common that the Officers were silver and the OR's were brass. Like yourselves we have had a pewter badge but are now in the process to changing to a brass badge. We can't say this is 100% certain for the 95th but it was standard practice in the British Army at the time. It's a shame there are no originals to copy.
